He dared come back to the place it all began, the place that he found himself slipping into a reality he wished not to be a part of. Perhaps that was why he ran. Soon after his run in with that dark, witch of a woman, he no longer felt safe in the second place he tried to make home. His intital reasoning to leave was for the sole purpose of returning to where it all began, to where he was most comfortable. A home he was able to sleep in with both eyes closed, able to look over his shoulder and see family, to leave the den and see his son.

None of that existed anymore, not here, and not there—nowhere.

There would never again be a normal for him. No pack to call home, no mate, no family. For all he knew his only kin was dead, or ran off with his mother (he hoped that more than anything). His mother was well and gone now he was sure of it, and his siblings, well, he hoped they live, but rekindling was far from grasp. So here he was now simply existing, which was no way to live, but alas he was not a man to make things more simple. Some would call it courage, others cowardice, but he paid no mind to either. If he had to simply exist than so be it, he started alone and it seemed he would end alone as well.

History sure did have a way of repeating itself.

the moon will swallow me whole
The world shifted, day turned to night and back again without so much as a passing glance towards the silent captain. Spring came, and with it almost every wolf aged on another dreadful year upon this barren mortal plane, where time seemed to stretch on with no respite.

The Redwood was what had spat Meissa onto this earth, sending her scampering for a foothold when there truly wasn't much of one to find. She had made her way into and upwards in the Army, but was it truly worthwhile? She had never met her General, Faust, and she doubted she ever would. While it was true that Meissa had made herself known and had made Captain rank, she had never really made friends with anyone, either in her own rank or below her. Above her? Ha.

She spotted a stranger roaming through the woods and considered him. He looked... lost.

The woman turned from her patrol to approach him. Are you alright, sir? she called, pausing to wait for a response.

Silence was broken by the sound of another, and she was hard to not notice given the variations of striking colors that painted her pelt. He considered her words. Was he alright? A small hum vibrated against his lips, the simple answer being no, but he did not need to make his problems her own. Even still he was not a man to lie, never was and never could be. "I am not, but I will be fine in time," he didn't wish to have her sympathy, but perhaps conversation would be able to aid his bruised heart. There were many things going on in his mind, and many more which he didn't wish to speak upon, and so he decided it best to go with casual conversation. Something else that was different for the ebon' man. Often he kept to himself, unbothered by many things and living a life that revolved around being introverted was common, but he would step out of his comfort zone this time.

"Just passing through?" He would then question softly, the cool air kissing his ivory cheeks and ruffling the fur of his nape. Maybe she was busy, or perhaps just found him in passing. Either way he believed there to be a reason their paths crossed.
