Profile of Isolde

A highlander by blood, Isolde boasts her kin's classic green eyes. Her gaze is that of Tir Na Nog's trees in summer, their leaves rustling amidst the nettles of evergreen. The earthy coat along her back and even the shock of gold along her neck and muzzle denote her even further as a proud Scot—but at her heart could not align further from the truth.

Isolde likes order—hell, she thrives in it. She loves hierarchies and the feeling of everything and everyone having a place. Within a web or an ecosystem, Isolde finds meaning, safety, and comfort. As a result, she strives to ensure that order is protected, hence her choice to leave her natal clan and venture into the mainland for her education in law. Now, after having had a stint abroad, Isolde feels as though she cannot recognize her home. The disarray is dredging up her tendency to worry over that which she cannot control, and she is forced to face ethical quandries that feel far beyond her control to wade through.

Isolde was born to a small but rowdy clan that served a larger clan. As bannermen to a particularly fair but rowdy chief, Isolde's early world was one of feasts, festivals, and superstitions. She would have been content to stay in this world: this time of frolic and light-heartedness with her sister and the boy that she loved if not for Aileene's rebellion. A highlander through and through, Isolde had stood with her family in the fight. Not physically inclined herself, she had been a makeshift healer of sorts, but had stayed from the main battle due to being a yearling at the time. Her parents returned, battered and bloody, but her lover did not. He'd managed to drag himself back to the edge of their territory but the bites in his leg had festered. He had grown feverish under her care and had, ultimately, passed several days later. Isolde was shattered. She grew distant from her family and pressure began to build within her small frame. Everytime her sister or parents dared to mention Prince Jacob's futile bid for power, she would shake with rage. Until one day she snapped. And left. She enrolled in the College of Eolas and started going by the English translation of her last name: Fairchild. She got a law degree and, when whispers of another rebellion started in Rionnach, Isolde lost her nerve. She went abroad and ended up finding an assortment of odd and unusual experiences mainly focused on a man by the name of Odysseus. Now she has returned only to find that tensions are still high. Every day she debates leaving again.
