Khepri had made his way all the way out to Ayr to get some time alone. Not that he particularly enjoyed time alone, but he needed it... to get his head straight. He'd picked up the valerian this morning and then put it down, deciding it was best to have a clear head even though he still felt in a fog from the things that had transpired. He didn't even want to think about them, to be honest. So as he walked the curving footpaths through Ayr he kept his head on his classes. Class... Professor That sweet voice pervaded his thoughts and he froze, his shoulders tensing and his fur bristling. What the hell was wrong with him?! He shook himself and kept going, thinking of the birds that were cawing at him instead as he passed over their fresh kill and caused them to angrily disperse. He was headed to a place he liked to go from time to time, a small pool that was nestled in the mountain walls along one of the many paths here. It had been a while but he found it as if he'd been here yesterday. He peered into the pool like it was a mirror and only saw himself, a middle-aged man with a graying muzzle and tired eyes. There was no way... He cleared his throat and lowered himself to the water, dipping his nose in and causing ripples. It was soothing enough to distract him for now. "we're all young and naive still" |
