The heatwave had not yet conceded its war with the wolves. It still raged on in the North and continued to try up the rivers and water sources. The drought had just begun and showed no signs of stopping anytime soon. The sky was blue without a cloud in the sky, radiating heat. It was not as bad here as it was in the Lowlands, that was for sure. She remembers taking groups out and feeling the hot sting of the sun against her fur, making her sweat profusely; even more so than she did in basic training. Vedette had been sent out from the relief site outside of tower Rionna. Even though she hated being away from where she was currently needed, this was important, too. And it was nice to get away from the overcrowded streets. The National Guardsman was walking through the various pines and tall maple trees. A gourd hung from her maw. She'd been sent to find any traces of water in Castle Stuart's surrounding areas and the little rivers with inside of the area. If she found any, she was to bring back a gourd full and return it to the medics. They would know who needed it more.

Her paws were calloused from the days of nonstop work. She doesn't think she's stopped since the day she showed up at the Army's doorstep, after the second natural disaster in her life. The one that had claimed Renato, her father. Scars traced the inside of her paw-pads as well. No one had really ever been that close enough to tell, and now, they just blended in with the callouses. Vedette weaved through the trees with her head high; eyes scanning the area and ears swiveling for the sound of flowing water. She had checked a few near the surrounding tower to see if there water left within the streams, but they only sported dry, cracked ground. Vedette was about a mile out from Rionna now, checking another river, but to no avail. "Shit." She took a breath, looking over it. She didn't want to stop, but her body made her. She took a few deeper breaths, her eyes closing as she thought about a path from here.
