Temporary Dens

The sun peers through the red leaves, shining a light on the events that are taking place within the Redwood's very core. The leaves hold strong; shielding many from the heatwave that was stirring trouble up North. Hustling bodies make the woods way louder than they are used to being. Hurried, almost all the hustling soldiers are put to work. Many gather in small groups to hoist branches against fallen trees, making shelter that would last for some refugees. Others dig into the ground, small cramped holes underneath roots of the tall trees. Some are made up poorer than others, with merely enough space to hold one mother and a child. Numerous families are separated to house within the small amount of dens that exhausted soldiers can properly build. With the amount of Lowlanders and Highlanders flooding into the space; it is getting cramped quickly.

Those from the College are trying to help in small places such as gathering herbs for those hurt. Even the Commonwealth can pitch in with something as small as offering a paw to soldiers to help dig dens or offer what goods they have. And, of course, the Thieves' Guild offers no help and seeks the unguarded Highlands and Lowlands for nefarious purposes.

How to interact:

You may post here as a general purpose area for those who are helping or being escorted to their temporary dens within Redwood.

The heat had nearly drained the life from him. For man of larger stature used to working his homestead with hard labor, this season was completely debilitating. Sundstol was not one for sitting still and don't nothing either...and so he kept at his work, especially when the conditions worsened for others as well. Having so many within these woods was particularly daunting, but he did his part to assist where needed.

He powered through the first few days, hoisting up the branches to create shelter and hollowing out deep holes in beneath the roots in the trees. As more wolves flocked into the protection of the eternal autumn woods, Sundstol created more spaces and enlarged existing ones, attempting to fix parts of the shelters that were perhaps a bit more haphazard than the rest.

It became harder to keep up with everything, until one day he began to feel completely lethargic while working on another shelter. He'd raised about half of the branches before he found he was out of breath, but he only paused for a moment before he continued to lift the next log upward. It was heavier than normal, odd for him, given his build and he strained against the weight until it overtook him. He let it topple from his shoulder, landing just next to him before he collapsed onto his side, panting heavily in the sweltering heat.
