Kazgut I will come to be — I will submerge myself in the body of the earth, sink my teeth into its flesh; and rise in my own skin. Work had been finished early in the day. Now, with the sun glinting just above the pines, Kazgut paced through the underbrush with basket betwixt teeth. Excuse had been made to lady love and the grim had begun to stock the forest with singular objective; surprise. The plan had started, half-formed in mind, whilst he was still digging the burial plot. The weather had warmed considerably, thawing away the last of the spring's bite. Overhead, the sun was golden, the skies were cerulean and clear, and the woods were heavy with nature's fruits. At first, the black shuck started small. He gathered broimfhéar (which tasted of liquorice), elder and cow parsley. Vyette had begun schooling him in the herbology of their new home and Kazgut was eager now to impress her with that learning. He picked barberry, mónóg, and bódhearc; their berries filling the basket with rich shades of red, black. Herein he added dandelions, wild garlic, and mint. Then he carried his pilfered basket down to their favored pond and seized several small specimens of fish. Kazgut could feel his heart beating fast as he waded out into the water and clasped his teeth upon fish after fish - trapping them in strong jaws before administering careful killing blows as so not to damage them. Then, with mouth tasting of blood and basket overflowing with riches; Kazgut padded back to the cottage. "Vyette~" he spoke her name simply. And laid the basket at her paws. @Vyette |
