Hide! Where to hide?

Her ears darted in every direction as her chunky baby body awkwardly scuttled around the house, big newly opened emeralds batting eagerly for a perfect place. Being small was an advantage her daddy didn’t have and she was thinking about using it since there were so many nooks and crannies around the place she could wiggle into. But that would be expected! She couldn’t do something expected but she also couldn’t hide in the open either, he’d surely see her! Her little curly puff flopped back and forth, letting out an audible hum of contemplation though as numbers went down in a thunderous voice, the ones she recognized made her far more alert. Not many seconds left to find her perfect spot, she knew that much. She wasn’t good at counting backwards but five she knew was pretty close to zero unless he starts doing halves.

The bedroom wouldn’t do. Mom would just tell him where she was in there plus she was kicked out of there not long ago. It was why she bothered her daddy cause now she was sooooooooooooooo bored and attention deprived.

A lightbulb pinged in her head as the perfect spot came to mind, scampering enthusiastically toward the kitchen, crawling into the pantry where alcohol was plenty. She wasn’t supposed to go here which made it not so expected! He would never seek her out here. The best plan. She would definitely be praised for such thinking, she believed but she also feared the rising anger of her mother for touching the fine wines. Maybe he wouldn’t tell her. Though what was to say he wouldn’t be angry about it too? Her lips went into a nervous line, stress making her shake which also made the glasses shake and ting together once in a while.

Taking in a breath, she tried to hold it, thinking it would make her shaking calm down. Who knows, maybe her smarts would be worth more than her choice to ignore a rule.
