S Staring into the flames, Sage had not noticed the familiar shadow appear opposite him. His eyes adjusted to the flame, refocusing on the shapes around him before the blood ran cold in his very veins. He had been working so hard on forgetting what had happened, and hoped that Diaval would just come back and laugh it off, even if they could just go back to being friends. Ignore the night of passion and live life as they had before. Staring for many minutes, his eyes burning from the smoke and heat, he stepped slowly to the side, making his way towards Diaval, unsure of what he wanted to say, only knowing that it had to be something. Anything that might bring him back. He stopped a few steps away, watching in awe the way the flames danced on his fur, how his eyes seemed like liquid gold. How the cloak draped over him, making him look so devilishly regal. Facing him, seeing him properly, Sage found the words stolen from him, his mouth open slightly as he stared. Here, like this, Diaval looked so far out of Sage's league and once more, his heart sunk to the depths of his chest, leaving him feeling empty and afraid. Moisture welled in the corners of his eyes and yet all he could do in that moment was stare. @Diaval Thread inspo: I Break My Own Heart - Lo Ghost

Diaval had mulled over everything for days...there was far too much to unpack and it certainly did not stop at Sage, but was amplified by the way his heart hammered in his chest at the sight of him. There was so much to say, so much he wanted to say. Words could hurt as much as they could heal, he knew this. He had to remind himself of this as he strode directly towards the silvered man, his eyes roaming the his body as he admired the paints that decorated his fur. Words hurt. It repeated in his skull again. But, so do actions... Another fact he had to remain cognizant of. It was he that had grown quiet in his thoughtful state. He who had announced his leave and had taken it swiftly and only recently was he left to imagine what that would have looked like from the point of view of those misty ocean eyes. And here they were again in front of him, glistening with tears as they stared back at him and it pained him to think that these tears were not the first. He halted a few steps from the herbalist, peering down at him with untold emotion swimming in his own pools of brilliant gold. All that he had thought he might say to his companion when he faced him again turned to dust and was scattered to the wind. Diaval couldn't hold himself back anymore, bridging the distance between them swiftly and pulling Sage into an embrace if he would allow it, though he would understand if instead he was pushed away. "I'm sorry, Sage...I'm so sorry..." He would murmur just beneath the base of an ashen ear, shaking his head as suddenly, he felt his own tears threaten to emerge. @Sage
